Laboratory Exercise 2
OBJECT:
Determine the winding
resistance of the given Transformer.
APPARATUS:
Power transformer (500VA, 220/220V, single phase, shell type). Power pack, AC ammeter (5A) AC voltmeter
(500V), connecting leads.
PROCEDURE:
·
Make connections of the HV side of the given
transformer as shown.
· Set the power pack selector
switch at DC and make sure that the variator is rotated folly counter clock
wise.
·
Switch on the power supply and rotate the variator
slowly clock wise keeping an eye on the ammeter. Actually the voltage values
are to be observed for the given set of the current values.
·
Record the voltage values across the 220V windings
for current of 0.2A, 0.3A, 0.4A.
·
Now switch off the power supply, disconnect all the
connections and reconnect for the LV side(110 windings) and repeat
the experiment.
·
Now connect both 110 windings in parallel and repeat
the experiment but this time the current values will be 0.5A, 0.6A 0.7A.
